This is heartbreaking.

This scene hit me hard because I have a similar kind of father. He and my mom got divorced when I was about 7 yrs old and after a time, he got remarried and found a step-son to love. He had no desire to love me as his daughter, he always chose my used to be step-brother before me, his desire to want to be my father first was never there. He got divorced from that wife as well but he still picks his second ex-wife's son over me, there's no compassion, no love that comes from him, only obligation like I'm an obligation not his daughter. That's why I have my mom too, she's been my rock and shield ever since my dad left us. So I understand what Rory is feeling because I feel that way all the time the slightest mention of my dad's name makes me sad and upset. He fed me that exact lie about him changing and being there for me when he divorced my used to be step-mother just like Christopher fed Rory that lie at Suki's wedding. Never came true.

Why is she always type casted as a confused fuck up?

It was nice of Lorelai to travel 2 hrs to another state at night to help the absent father of her own child with his child with another woman. I know I would do the same but I would still feel a little bitter I did. He deserves to figure it out on his own but you know poor kid not her fault.

Amy Shermann Palladino has a way with ruining really likeable characters.

We all have personal epiphanies every now and again but it doesn’t mean we should say them out loud. Lorelai could have journaled this or spoken to Sookie about it. Chris’ reaction was over the top but it’s understandable that he’d be hurt; he waited and waited for Lorelai, who now confesses she’s always been secretly waiting for him too at a time when he’s finally getting his life together and has settled with someone else. His reaction was unwarranted but given his emotional maturity and how he pined for Lorelai for years I get that he’d be upset.

I never really liked Emily, but the older I get the more I understand her and her reasoning. She could've been less cold towards Lorelai, and probably because of that coldness Lorelai overcompensates by being immature and emotional when it's least needed... but... I understand Emily so much more now.

The fact Chris clearly knows Lorelai is upset, and he doesn't say "Let's not have sex when you're emotional and heartbroken." Speaks volumes. He saw the opportunity to sleep with her and took it, despite knowing she JUST left Luke. Not saying Lorelai isn't wrong as hell to immediately run to Chris of all people for comfort. Call Rory, or Sookie! Don't beg someone to elope then immediately go to your ex! Luke isn't innocent either. He kept April's existence from her for 2 months! Then when she did find out, he banned her from getting to know April, yet let every other person in Stars Hollow meet her? Dude. The problem was never April, and I'll never understand why fans blamed this child for ruining the relationship. The fault was Lorelai for not communicating her feelings long before blowing up at him in the middle of the street, and issuing a now or never ultimatum. Luke for not including the woman he supposedly wants to marry, and fucking Christopher for being a sleaze and sleeping with a distressed woman, rather than being a fucking gentleman and taking the freaking couch!

Mortal Kombat gilmore girls style. I don't know about you but I think it's a funny little detail that Christopher takes off his scarf and Luke takes off his jacket before their fight.

I hate that the show portrayed Christopher as the bad guy. He was willing to marry Lorelai when they were 16 but she refused than ran away. He stayed in the only world he knew and despite being a rich kid with a trust fund, he disappoints poor little Rory because he can't even afford to buy her the giant dictionary she craves. Then because he stands by his new pregnant girlfriend, that somehow makes him wrong again? No, it doesn't and I am glad Richard understood what a stand up guy Christopher was because ASP was very heavy handed in painting him as an irresponsible absentee father.
